Amphitheatre Bodrum Turkey
Experience the atmosphere of the ancient amphitheater..
The Amphitheatre is one of the best preserved structures of ancient Halikarnassus. Originally, it was built around 4th C BC during the reign of King Mausolos, in 2nd C AD, during the Roman period, it was enlarged and enriched.
It is a very good example of a Classical Greek Theatre. The amphitheatre is situated on a hillside and has great views of Bodrum harbour. Estimated seating capacity is about 13,000.
The Amphitheatre has been restored in recent years by Prof. Dr. Altan Cilingiroglu of Ege University and Oguz Alpozen, Ex- Director of Bodrum Museum.
